Adult Education
Adult Education at Osseo United Methodist
Church is not "Sunday School" in the traditional sense of the
term. At OUMC, Adult Education provides opportunities where
seekers and believers can meet and study God's word in a caring,
loving and supportive environment. Adult Education classes are
offered on Sunday mornings concurrent with each of the worship
services. Seminars, guest speakers and special events are also
offered through Adult Education Ministries at OUMC.
Our current classes are:
The Life God Rewards
9:00am to 10:00am Sundays thru March 8th
This is a study of the book “The Life God Rewards” by Bruce
Wilkerson. This class meets in the Adult Education room in the
education wing of the church.
Invitation to Genesis
10:30am to Noon Sundays thru April 5th
(approximately)
This is a study of the Book of Genesis. This class meets in the
education wing in rooms 7 and 8. Information for Kids
Church School
at 9:00 am Sunday Mornings Church School is for our 2 year olds
through Senior High Students. We welcome all of our children to come
and learn about God, the beautiful stories of the Bible and how we can
take the lessons from the Bible and apply them to our everyday lives.
It is also our mission to inspire our children to know God on a personal
level.
Curriculum We are using curriculum that builds
a faith foundation in our children that lasts a lifetime. We have
chosen materials that engage different learning styles with games, music,
art and other media that kids know and understand.
Our curriculum is Bible based and comes
to us quarterly, Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.
9:00 a.m. (September through May) Junior High Sunday School
This class is focused on building relationships between the students and growing their faith through topical activities and discussions.
10:30 a.m. (September through May) Faith Challenge Junior and Senior High Class
This class explores the Bible through group discussion and activities that are related to the theme or topic of the next month’s First Night Worship (student led worship).
Nursery At OUMC We believe in offering a safe and nurturing environment for young children to play during our Sunday services. Childcare is available year-round and is provided by church volunteers on a rotational basis.
Please sign-in your child upon dropping him/her off and list any allergies the child may have. Age appropriate snacks are available in addition to diapering supplies. Toys played with by the children are set aside at the end of nursery time to be washed and surfaces are wiped clean/sanitized. Only parents or other known adults from your family will be allowed to pick up your child from the nursery room.
We look forward to caring for your little ones and encourage you to utilize the nursery so that you may fully enjoy your time in worship!
Special Programs
Rally Day
Our Rally Day celebration
each year is our kick-off for the beginning of our Fall Schedule.
In our Church School Program it is the beginning of our Fall Church
School. We have crafts, celebrate Grandparent's Day, a grand
march through the sanctuary, and get to know all of our new students.
3rd Grade
Bibles All 3rd
Graders are presented a special Bible by our church. They will learn
many wonderful lessons from this special gift.
Music and Worship
In our 2 year olds through
the 6th grade give our students an opportunity to gather
together to join in voice to praise the Lord in Music and Worship.
We have excellent volunteers who bring with them vocal and musical skills
to share with our children each Sunday.
Children’s Church
Each month we have all
of our students 1st grade through Sr. High join the worship
service so they may experience what Worship in the Sanctuary is all
about. The 1st through 6th Grade are excused to attend
their Church School class mid-way through the Worship Service following
a delightful Children’s Sermon
geared especially for them.
Christmas Program
Every year we choose a
new theme for an exciting Christmas Program for our 2 year olds through
6th Grade students to present. They work on their music
and speaking parts in class and at home and come together for a glorious
presentation with costumes, props and lots of excitement in the afternoon
on 2nd Sunday of December.
Spring Fair
In the spring of each
year the 2 year olds through 6th Grade gather together to celebrate
Easter and the beginning of Spring. They travel through a carnival
of exciting activities that are meant to both teach as well as entertain.
They learn the meaning of the symbols of Easter, the sacrifice of our
Lord and the new life that Spring and Easter symbolizes for us all.
Giving
Our children are given
the opportunity to participate in giving to those in need in many way.
They participate in the Heifer Fund by bringing in their spare
change once a month. They bring in canned goods for our Harvest
Sunday in November to help with the CROSS food shelf. As well
as other on going projects.
